Jimmy（卢卡斯·奈夫 Lucas Neff 饰）没有正经工作看，他没有房子,只能跟母亲Virginia(玛莎·普林顿 Martha Plimpton 饰)和父亲Burt(加瑞特·迪拉胡特 Garret Dillahunt 饰)挤在一起。无意邂逅美丽的Lucy(碧悠·菲利浦斯 Bijou Phillips 饰)，两人一见钟情坠入爱河。可Jimmy很快就发现了Lucy是一个在逃的重犯，并在不久后被被警方抓获。几个月后,Jimmy到监狱探望她,竟发现Lucy竟然已经生下了自己的女儿。而Lucy很快将被执行死刑,抚养孩子的任务无可厚非责无旁贷地落在Jimmy身上。不知所措的Jimmy只好将女儿抱回了家,但他的家人并没有对这个小家伙表示出任何好感。对已经问题重重的Chance一家来说,一个新家庭成员的意外出现让他们更加头疼...... themoviedb
